In Sheridan's book, Los Tucsonenses, he describes the cultural change that took place among the native peoples as well as the Mexicans living in the region when the Anglos began to pour into southern Arizona. In several chapters of his book he provides charts and figures as to the work distribution among the Anglos and Hispanics. These immigrants would bring the U.S. form of economy to the region and huge prosperity with industries brought to the region, such as copper mining and cattle ranching. The book through the charts and graphs demonstrate not just the labor distribution but the move to an industrial economy as well as inculturation into the U.S. the chart for labor distribution at the turn of the century shows that while the Anglo population still dominated the whit collar jobs a drastic decrease in Mexican unskilled labor moving toward semi-skilled [AJ2] and skilled.
